A modern, reliable and long lasting solution for missing teeth

We know that losing teeth can be a traumatic experience, leaving you keen to find a way to fill the gap in your smile. Dental implants are strong, secure and highly aesthetic, an innovative and advanced restoration, able to perfectly replicate the look, feel and function of natural teeth.

How do dental implants work?

A dental implant is a small titanium screw which is placed into your jawbone to create a completely fixed new tooth root. Titanium is used as it is very well tolerated by the body and integrates with the surrounding jaw bone to provide a solid foundation for a crown or bridge to be fixed on top, or to secure and stabilise a denture.

Placing dental implants is a relatively simple procedure for the patient, but requires a high level of clinical experience and expertise. Our principal dentist, Sualeh Khan, has a special interest in implantology and has completed further training courses to hone his skills and achieve long lasting, aesthetic and stable results for his patients.

dental implants?

  • aesthetic

Implants look and feel exactly like natural teeth, giving you the confidence to smile again. No one will be able to tell you have an implant unless you tell them!

  • supportive

Implants provide crucial support to your facial structure and protection for your otherwise exposed gum. They are also fitted with no negative impact on your existing healthy teeth.

  • advanced

We use cutting edge digital technology combined with our knowledge and experience to create a safe, highly effective and innovative restoration.

  • secure

Implants are a solid restoration, unable to slip when you eat or speak or become loose over time. The strength and durability of implants is unrivalled.

1

Assessment

If you are interested in implant treatment, firstly we invite you to the practice for a thorough consultation appointment. We discuss the process with you in detail, and make sure you are a suitable implant candidate. We take digital CBCT scans and impressions and create your bespoke treatment plan, including estimated costs and timeframe.

2

Placement

We insert the titanium implant into your jaw, using the precise digital scans to determine the optimum placement. Using local anaesthetic to minimise your discomfort, we gently lift the gum away from your bone and carefully place your implant. It takes approximately 3-6 months to heal and effectively fuse to your bone to create a strong support.

3

Restorative Treatment

Once your implant has fully healed and integrated, we begin the restorative treatment needed to complete your smile. Several appointments may be needed to create your perfect blend of implant and crown, bridge or denture, but it will be worth it when you see your brand new smile for the first time!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Am I suitable for implants?

Most people are a suitable candidate for dental implants, as long as they are generally healthy and have good oral health. However, they are not an ideal option for everyone. At Clover Dental Practice, we can provide high quality dental implant treatments but also have the ability to fully assess and offer other treatments for patients. Therefore, we will only recommend implant procedures when it is the best treatment for the patient.

  • Will I need any additional treatment before I can have dental implants?

Sometimes, losing a tooth results in loss of bone. As a result, bone must be created prior to or during the implant placement. If this is not diagnosed correctly and procedures are not timely and well executed, it is impossible to provide implant restorations that will look like natural teeth. In depth knowledge and treatment planning are essential for achieving results that are healthy long-term and avoiding complications.

  • Will dental implant treatment be painful?

We use local anaesthetic during the implant procedure to numb the affected area and make sure you stay comfortable and pain free throughout. After treatment, it is normal to feel some discomfort and soreness for a few days, but this can be managed with over-the-counter painkillers and will be temporary. If pain persists, please contact us for advice.

  • Can dental implants fall out?

Dental implants are designed to last a lifetime, fully fused to your jawbone to create a superior strong and durable foundation, exactly mimicking a natural tooth root. It is very unlikely that they will fall out, especially when your treatment has been carried out by an experienced and skilled dentist. Occasionally, the crown fixed on top of your dental implant can become loose or fall out, but this isn’t a serious problem and can be repaired or replaced without issue.

  • Why are dental implants so expensive?

Dental implants are a complex dental treatment, which require a lot of skill, accuracy and precision. Your dentist has completed extensive specialist training and additional qualifications. We use state-of-the-art equipment and advanced materials to achieve the very best results. Implants are a truly modern restoration, capable of transforming your appearance and confidence in an incredibly positive way.

  • Are implants permanent?

As the implant is anchored to your jaw and fully integrated with the bone, the treatment is permanent. Implants have the potential to last a lifetime if you look after them properly. The crown or bridge that the implant supports may need to be replaced over time due to normal wear or tear.

  • Are there any alternatives to dental implants?

The main alternatives to dental implants are bridges or dentures. They are more affordable than an implant, and can be used effectively to restore one or more missing teeth, but they don’t have the advanced stability, aesthetics and versatility that implants do. At Clover Dental Practice, we can provide high quality dental implant treatments but also have the ability to fully assess and offer other treatments for patients. Therefore, we will only recommend implant procedures when it is the best treatment for the patient.
